It was a conclave of flame and feather, but who knew what the lords of birds and fire had come to discuss for few could fathom the motives of gods. They had come from far and wide, and high and low, and there were many... such as the Titan Prometheus who towered amongst them, and Loki, Jotunn blood-brother to the King of the Aesir. There was the falcon headed Horus who stood impatiently next to the vulture goddess Maat. On six blazing wings floated Zamael, a lord of the Seraphim, and on the back of a dragon rode Asmodeus, a regent of the Fallen. Well-winged Garuda, Vahana of Vishnu, stood smiling next to the stern faced Acala, Guardian King of the Five Buddhas of Wisdom. And watching over them all was Waukheon the Thunderbringer, for the Black Rock Desert upon which they gathered was on his land. But all divine eyes were on the two who had summoned this gathering. Two whose plumes were as magnificent as the light of their burning presence. Two who now danced together, higher and higher, brighter and brighter, into the eternal night sky... Fenghuang the August Rooster and Bennu-Phoenix of Heliopolis...

The Phoenix Projekt is a pan-asian and myth inspired fire performance troupe combining dance, theatre and martial arts. By fusing these elements, Phoenix Projekt elevates the art of fire to new heights, creating not only an exotic and exhilarating experience, but a unique, magical synergy meant to enliven and inspire audiences.

The troupe is expertly versed in the use of poi, single and double staff, fire hoop, fans, fire fingers, eating and breathing, as well as more unusual implements such as swords, rope dart, nunchaku, three-section staff, and a fire tuba. Our members also possess years of dedicated training in a wide variety of arts including wushu and kung fu, aerial and floor acrobatics, juggling, belly dance, choreography, modeling, professional costume and set design, storytelling as well as more unique skills such as traditional Chinese lion dancing.

Based in Los Angeles, we have experience performing at a wide variety of venues and events. Some of our clients have included Disney, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Studios, Cirque du Soliel, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, The Coachella Music Festival, Staples Center and various clubs and theatres. Our shows range from spectacular 45 minute long productions featuring the entire troupe, to smaller, specialized and intimate 1-2 person pieces. We adapt easily to our audiences and settings, even offering non-fire performance.

The Phoenix Projekt uses certified safety equipment and brings a trained fire safety team to every event. We come equipped with multiple fire extinguishers, fire blankets and fire-retardant costumes, and store our fuels and tools securely. We are insured through the World Clown Association and continually work alongside fire marshals to make every one of our events safe for performer, venue and audience alike.
